Building Chicken Coops Doesn't Have to Be Difficult!

Before we begin let me just emphasis that a good tutorial, or guide I should say, will show you step-by-step everything there is to learn about building chicken coops thus making it pretty darn simple for you to get started.

There are already some really great guides, the best one being called "How To Build A Chicken Coop", and because of that I will not go into full details on the subject since it has already been done, however I will get you started by going over the main points you need to know.

The number one point you must remember when contructing a backyard chicken coop is safety, yes that's right safety should always come first. I am not talking about safety as in don't smach your finger with the hammer when nailing the panels together, I'm talking about the safety and protection of your precious little chickens!

You must make sure to keep in mind when building your chicken coop that you think about weather conditions, cold and hot, and foremost preditors. Depending on where you live there are all kinds of animals that love easy prey, so make sure you keep that in mind and make your coop safe for your hens. The best way to do this is to bury your coop at least 1 foot under the soil and surround it with chicken wire to make sure that any hungry preditors cant burrow their way in.

To keep your chickens warm in the winter and cool in the summer, make sure to insulate your coops well. By doing this you will prevent warm air from escaping as well as cold air and moisture from getting in and causing mold damage, which in turn will yield numerous helath problems for you chickens.
